Willie Nelson, country music icon, misses opening night of The Outlaw Music Festival due to illness. The 91 year old singer’s team issued a statement on his health.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” read a statement published on Nelson’s X (formerly Twitter) page. “He is expected to make a full recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
The show went on without Willie Nelson sadly, but his son son, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band performed covered some of Nelson’s classic hits. Additionally, Singers, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse also took stage at the Music Festival in Georgia.
In July, John Mellencamp is set to join the festival. Also, Britney Spencer, and five-piece Memphis band, Southern Avenue on select dates.
“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists. I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love,” Nelson said in a statement back in February when the Tour was announced.
Our well wishes go out to Willie Nelson, for great health. ♥ Our continued respect, as he is out on tour. See ya in September!
